40th Lake Garda Open Meeting Event Support

IOCA will be offering coach support for the 40th Lake Garda Open Meeting. The event runs 14-17 April 2022 and we will be training from 11 April. 

The Lake Garda Open Meeting is one of the most famous regattas in the world and holds the Guiness World Record as the largest sailing regatta of a single class with entries of over 1,400 in the past. The thermal winds from the mountains and lake have made Lake Garda Europe’s top sailing destination.

Parents will be responsible for either taking their own Optimist or chartering a dinghy locally.

Our coaches for this event are Sarah McGovern and James Parker-Mowbray and we will be chartering ribs for them in Garda. The coaches will share more information with sailors in advance of the event. The coaches will be on the main "Juniores" race course, please note that Cadetti race in a separate area.

Fees

Cost of £480 per sailor is budgeted based on 24 sailors. 
If after analysing the final actual expenses there is more than £20 saving, this will be refunded to parents. Similarly, if the team expenses exceed the budget or there are fewer sailors than budgeted a further payment request to parents will be made. 
If sailors need to cancel please let us know as soon as possible. Fees will be refunded less any costs already incurred. Where this significantly increases the cost for other participants, this will be communicated and all participants will be given the option to cancel or proceed. 
It is the sole responsibility of families to confirm the eligibility of their sailors for the event and the covid and travel rules applicable at the time of travelling. 
Cadetti fee is based on three families sharing manning of a rib at own cost and providing safety cover for all sailors during training.
